The Ile-de-France Region’s football league, in partnership with the City of Paris, uses the UEFA EURO 2016 hosting to organise its very first international women tournament for girls under 16. It will start on Friday June 17th and will end on Sunday June 19th with a big final on the Eiffel Tower Fan Zone, with Jean-François Martins, Deputy Mayor of Paris.
While the Europe of football is gathered in Paris and the French capital is hosting the World Women Football cup in 2019, the Ile-de-France Region’s football league, in partners hip with the City of Paris and the Football Committee of Paris, has wished to organise its very first international women U16 tournament. This Paris European Cup will be played 7 against 7 and will gather 16 teams with the objective of promoting women’s sports and giving a better visibility to women’s football.
“The Euro Championship is a great opportunity to value women’s football currently booming in Paris: The number of members has increased by 60% in 4 years in our many amateur teams and the PSG flagship club. Paris is also very proud to host the FIFA’s Women World Cup in 2019 that will highlight even more the women’s football practice and continue to make this sport more mixed” underlines Jean-François Martins, Deputy Mayor of Paris for Sport and Tourism.
From June 17th to June 19th, 16 team of girls under 16 – 8 European teams and 8 teams from the Ile-de-France Region – will play against each other on the synthetic pitch of the Sports Centre of Maryse Hilsz (20th arrondissement) that has been renovated on the occasion of the Euro championship. On Sunday June 19th, the four best teams will meet for the finals and the third-place-play-off in the Eiffel Tower Fan Zone.
Beyond the sports framework, the organisation of this tournament lines up with a dedicated hosting programme enabling the delegations members to discover the City of Paris and the UEFA EURO 2016 sites, favour the intercultural exchanges and promote Paris, host City of the FIFA’s Women World Cup.

The meeting for the finals will be on Sunday June 19th at 04:15 p.m. in the Fan Zone and for French and European supporters.
